I haven't been making too many trips lately, but not only do I have a lot of landscape shots I've also taken many over this past summer. In fact, I might I think I'll just embed another slideshow:
I'll add descriptions to each photo to calm everyone's curiosity.
The landscape site was a little too romantic and poetic for me, but I appreciated their passion for the perfect photo. Landscapes to me are an expanse of natural land (I just realized the site defines a landscape as "an expanse of natural scenery" but this would have been my answer anyway so I'll keep it). They can include man made objects, but distance should be displayed through various levels of scenery.
I think that often the largest contributor to getting the perfect landscape photo is perspective, which means that one must be in the perfect spot to get the shot. One must also be able to recognize depth; for instance, one might photograph a collection of trees, but they should also be aware of what's behind the trees and set their angle to take advantage of the scene's multiple levels.
One thing I enjoyed from the site was a reference to the passage of time in one's landscape photo.

These are beautiful! I agree that giving a sense of distance to a landscape photo is key to having a good shot. The photo needs to feel very 3 dimensional.
Jay, I can't get over your photo's - every week they're incredible! I loved the shot of the leaves on the ground (kind of a ground-up perspective if that makes sense...)
Your landscapes are beautiful, so many great shots. It's a great feeling when you are able to capture in a picture the perspective you are seeing in front of you. The one picture of the tree trunks (a little hazy) is amazing. Great depth of field...
Thank you everyone. A number of these pictures were taken when I hiked the Appalachian Trail 8 years ago. My wife have been on a memory binge this week and I've been looking at my photos more and more. These particular shots were taken with an automatic Adventex camera before I owned a digital camera.
I was actually wondering whether those leaf shots were considered landscape... their angles don't really a great deal of area; any thoughts?
As always Jay - landscapes seem to be your forte'. I think you should make a calendar of your travels. When we start the image manipulation part I will be curious as to see what affect that color alterations on landscape images will have - I bet some could be given a completely different impact.
Jay, as always I'm impressed. The photo peering down trail over the vibrant leaves is my favorite. The different viewpoint makes it much more interesting, and I love the colors in the leaves.
Yeah! Well,... I havent seen these yet, and really loved it, the whole page. Nice writing, expression and awesome images! Thanks!
Jay:
